Why become an ACB member?
The Association for Cannabis Banking was established in response to the unique challenges and complexities that emerged in the banking sector due to the rise of the legal cannabis industry.
With the growing acceptance and legalization of cannabis across various states, there is a clear need for specialized banking practices, guidance and an educational learning platform to address the cannabis banking industry-specific nuances. The ACBA was created to bridge this gap, offering a unified platform where banking professionals can collaborate, share insights, develop strategies and so much more:
Industry Specific Networking
Education and Training
Advocacy
Access to Resources
Regulatory Guidance
Credibility and Recognition
Opportunities for Leadership
Unified Voice
What do ACB Members Get with Their Membership?
Do I get certified under my annual ACB Membership?
Yes! Members can access both the industry’s FIRST and original Cannabis Banking Professional certification (CBP®), as well as the NEW ADVANCED CBP®. These certifications contain cannabis classes along with quizzes to ensure learning and retention, with each certification topped off with a certificate of completion suitable for framing.
Are there other cannabis classes I can take?
Absolutely! We have a wide range of both upcoming and recorded webinars covering all areas of cannabis banking. The ACBA cannabis banking classes are updated regularly and the live events are recorded, allowing for later viewing or if you have a last minute scheduling conflict.
Are there cannabis classes or training modules if I’m in a hurry?
The ACBA offers a series of High 5! Compliance Briefings for all members. We regularly extract tidbits of insights, learnings, and valuable best practices that are often just 4-7 minutes in length so you can get updated right before a Board Meeting or gathering where you might be asked about subjects like “The Cole Memo”, “Rescheduling Primer”, etc.
Does the ACB offer other actionable resources my team can use right away?
All 4 types of ACB Memberships, detailed below, include a series of valuable checklists that both seasoned banks and credit unions, as well as institutions just getting started, can easily reference. These include helpful lists covering BSA, Risk Assessment, Onboarding and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and many more!
Are there tools to help cannabis-related businesses (CRBs) with banking standards?
Yes. Through our recent alliance with the Emerging Markets Coalition (EMC), we are pleased to provide ACB Members with a wealth of operating standard guides for institutions to provide to their CRBs in order to help them stay compliant. Standards cover important areas including Cash Management, Sustainability, Cannabis and Hemp Advertising, Security, Lab Testing, and many more! These are invaluable guides for every Manager seeking more compliant and efficient operations.
Can the ACB help educate Board of Directors and C-Suite about Cannabis Banking?
Every banker knows that their Board will always want to know about high risk businesses banking at their institution. The messaging and information that your Board and C-Suite hears will likely make or break your cannabis banking program. ACB offers online education modules tailored to giving your executives and directors the objective, unbiased news, best practices, risks and challenges they will need to navigate the institution through these waters.
How does the alliance with Emerging Markets Coalition (EMC) impact Members?
EMC, as a 501-c3 charitable organization, has depth and breadth in working with government agencies in DC to help advance not just efforts to legalize cannabis, but to build the standards mentioned above to guide regulatory agencies with how controls, regulations, policies, etc. are developed and implemented. ACB Members will have access to EMC special conferences, roundtables, notices, and other resources focused on the longer view of cannabis banking.
